The Department of Organic Chemistry employs six teachers, a teaching assistant, a junior research assistant, two technicians and a cleaning person.

Lecturers at the Department of Organic Chemistry are involved in the implementation of four mandatory and one elective course through theoretical, practical and consultative activities on both modules – Master of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy-Medical Biochemist. Furthermore, the Department of Organic Chemistry participates in the realization of doctoral academic studies in collaboration with the following departments: Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Bromatology, Pharmacognosy and Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Additionally, teaching staff participate in holding classes for entrance exam.

The Department's research activities generally include various organic syntheses employing modern organic chemistry methods as well as medicinal chemistry projects one of which is in collaboration with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Memphis, TN, USA).

The teaching staff is open for collaboration with students interested in expanding and applying the knowledge in organic chemistry. To date, the connection between the Department and students has been successful. Hence, several student projects have been conducted and the results were presented at chemical and biomedical congresses, while some of them were published in journals of international importance
