Within their teaching and research activities, professors and assistants of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry deal with molecular mechanisms of action, drug–receptor interactions, chemical interactions between drugs, chemical aspects of drug metabolism, as well as with the design and synthesis of new and optimization of previously synthesized drugs. For that purpose, the knowledge acquired from basic chemical disciplines is employed.   

Research at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is realized through several international and national projects. Professors and assistants of the Department collaborate with numerous Serbian and foreign institutes and faculties.

Types of studies that are conducted at the Department (teaching activity): Integrated academic studies, specialist academic studies, specialist studies required by healthcare system, doctoral academic studies.

The scientific research area is Pharmaceutical-medicinal chemistry and structural analysis.

Apart from teaching activities, professors and assistants of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry are involved in national and international projects, organize and participate in the courses of continuing education for healthcare professionals, and support the activities of students’ organizations (CNIRS and NAPSer) by involving undergraduate and foreign students into research activities.
