Violeta Milutinović, PhD

Violeta M. Milutinović, PhD (born 1987 in Kruševac) graduated from the University of Belgrade-Faculty of Pharmacy in 2011 (average grade 9.33). She completed PhD studies at the Department of Pharmacognosy, University of Belgrade-Faculty of Pharmacy in 2021; dissertation entitled "Investigation of secondary metabolites and pharmacological activity of selected species of the genus Hieracium L. (Asteraceae) from the Balkan Peninsula" (supervisor Prof. Dr. Silvana Petrović).

After graduation, she completed an internship (ZU "Apoteka Kruševac"; professional exam in 2012), and worked in a public pharmacy. Since 2015, she has been employed at the Department of Pharmacognosy, University of Belgrade-Faculty of Pharmacy, initially as research trainee (2015-2019), research assistant (2019-2021) and research associate (elected in March 2022). She participates in practical classes’ realization of mandatory and elective courses at the Department of Pharmacognosy, in organization of the Professional Practice Training for students within the integrated academic studies of the study program Pharmacy, as well as of student research works within the CNIRS.

Regarding scientific work, she has been involved in a national project (No. 173021; from 2015 to 2019), and two bilateral projects within the framework of scientific cooperation between the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences entitled: "Taxonomy, phytogeography and conservation of plant taxa of the genus Hieracium s. str. (Asteraceae) in the Floras of Bulgaria and Serbia with special reference to H. sect Pannosa" (2014-2016) and "Hemotaxonomic research and biological potential of the group Stachys recta (Lamiaceae) from the area of ​​the Balkan Peninsula" (from 2023).

Her scientific activities (in the field of Pharmacognosy) focuse on phytochemical analysis: isolation and structural characterization of plant secondary metabolites, LC-MS and GC-FID-MS analysis of plant isolates, chemosystematic evaluation of plant secondary metabolites. She is also intensively investigating the pharmacological activities of plant and/or fungal isolates.
