Ljuboš Ušjak graduated at University of Belgrade-Faculty of Pharmacy in 2010. He completed internship at Pharmacy “Belgrade” and Clinical Center of Serbia and passed professional exam for pharmacist (2010-2011). At University of Belgrade-Faculty of Pharmacy, he defended doctoral dissertation “Chemical and pharmacological characterization of selected taxa of the genus Heracleum L. (Apiaceae), autochthonous for Southeast Europe” in 2019 (supervisor Prof. Dr. Silvana Petrović), completed specialist academic studies (SAS) in Pharmacotherapy in Pharmaceutical Practice in 2020 and was awarded for the best scientific research work of postgraduate students in 2019.

During 2012-2013, Ljuboš Ušjak worked at Clinical Center of Serbia. Since 2013, he has been employed as researcher at Department of Pharmacognosy, University of Belgrade-Faculty of Pharmacy (currently as research associate). He participates in realization of practical classes at integrated academic studies (courses Pharmacognosy, Phytotherapy and Analysis of herbal drugs and preparations) and workshops at SAS Pharmacotherapy in Pharmaceutical Practice (courses Phytotherapy 1 and 2). He was member of 1 Committee for doctoral thesis, 14 Committees for final work and co-mentor of 3 student scientific works.

Ljuboš Ušjak was engaged in one national project of Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia (OI 173021) in period 2013-2019. Since 2023, he participates in one bilateral project of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In 2023, he completed research stay at Medical University of Lublin (Poland). He published 23 papers in international scientific journals, 3 papers in national scientific journals and 30 abstracts from scientific conferences, gave 1 invited lecture at national scientific conference and reviewed papers for 9 international journals and 1 national journal. His research primarily includes investigation of chemical composition of herbal isolates (extracts and essential oils) using LC-MS and GC-MS methods, and their pharmacological activity.
