Martin Henman is a registered pharmacist in Ireland and he was a member of the Pharmaceutical Care Task Force of the European Association of Faculties of Pharmacy that proposed the introduction Pharmaceutical Care in the undergraduate syllabus. Dr Henman was a founder tutor of the Irish Centre for Continuing Pharmaceutical Education and now serves on the Steering Committee of the Pharmacy CPD body, the Irish Institute of Pharmacy. He served as member of the Reference Network to the European Health Alliance Consortium (EAHC/2013/Health/07) conducting a review and mapping of Continuous Professional Development and Lifelong Learning for health professionals in the EU; 2013. He has been a Consultant to the European Directorate for the Quality and Safety of Medicines and Pharmaceutical Care, Council of Europe since 2009 and is rapporteur and co-rapporteur for two working groups at present concerned with Medication Review guidelines and with Remote access to medications. Dr Henman researches in pharmacy practice and education, pharmacoepidemiology and health services research in a variety of national and international multidisciplinary groups and networks. He is taking part in two cohort studies lead by Trinity College Dublin; as a member of the Medication group of the Irish Longitudinal Study of Ageing (TILDA), and as the lead of the pharmacology group in the Intellectual Disability Supplement to the TILDA which is run from the Centre for Ageing with Intellectual Disability. He holds a Provosts’s Award for his teaching in Trinity College, is a Fellow of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy and is an Honorary Life Member of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE).
