She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade in 1982. She has a master's degree and a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences. Specialist in the field of medicinal herbs.

During  1990. she realized study visit at the Department of Pharmacognosy, The School of Pharmacy, University of  London, as a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Science of Serbia.

She has been working at the Faculty of Pharmacy since 1984. She was elected to all associate and research titles, and was elected full professor in 2005.

She was the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy (2007-2012) and Vice-Rector for Teaching at the University of Belgrade (2012-2018).

She teaches a group of subjects within the scientific field of pharmacognosy in integrated academic studies, doctoral academic studies and specialist academic studies, as well as in the specialization for health professionals. In certain periods, she taught at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Podgorica, as well as at some faculties of the University of Belgrade (Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Biology). She was a mentor of about 70 final student papers, 6 specialist papers in the field of Application and Control of Medicinal Plants, 4 master's theses and 7 doctoral dissertations.

Since the beginning of her academic career, she has been involved in scientific research within national projects of basic and technical-technological research. She was also involved in the international FP7 call project (2009-2012). The main interests in the field of research are related to medicinal properties of plants, chemical, morphological and pharmacological characterization, endemic and relict plant species, defining the quality of plant raw materials, valorization of traditional medicinal plant raw materials and regulation of production of secondary plant metabolites using in vitro plant cultures.

She has published about 70 papers in international journals (60 papers are in indexed journals on the SCI list) and about 50 papers in journals of national importance. She has given 4 plenary lectures at international, 3 at national scientific gatherings and a large number of invited lectures at professional gatherings of pharmacists in the region.

He is the author of the textbook for students of pharmacy "Fundamentals of Pharmacognosy" and the professional publication "One Hundred Medicinal Plants: Through Tradition and Modern Life of the Serbian People" (Kovačević N., Jančić R.). He is also the author of the chapter "Phytotherapy" in the professional publication Pharmacotherapeutic Guide (3,4,5,6 edition; Published by the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of the Republic of Serbia). She also gave two lectures at the round table Science and Society, SANU Branch in Novi Sad (Medicinal plants - between empiricism and science, 2009; Plants between food and medicine - herbal supplements, 2013).

In addition to her regular duties, she actively participated in the work of various bodies of the University and the Faculty. She chaired the Council of Scientific Areas of Medical Sciences, was a member of the Ethics Committee of the University of Belgrade, and actively worked within the Board of the Foundation of the University of Belgrade. She was a member of the Commission for Postgraduate Teaching and the Program Committee of the Center for Continuing Education of the Faculty.

For a long period, she was involved in the registration and marketing of promotional drugs, and later human drugs. She chaired the Republic Expert Commission for Pharmacy. She was a member of the Main Scientific Committee for Biology.

For the last thirty years, she has actively participated, primarily in the field of pharmacy, in the organization and implementation of scientific congresses, symposiums and conferences in the Republic of Serbia, neighboring countries and the Balkans.
