Dr sc. pharm Zoran Maksimović, full professor, graduated in 1994, received his master's degree in 1998 and doctorate in 2004 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. He has been employed at the Department of Pharmacognosy of the Faculty of Pharmacy since 1994. He was elected as assistant professor in 2005, associate professor in 2009, and full professor in 2020.

He completed two study visits abroad: Laboratory for Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Medical Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago, USA (2000) and Institute of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Beijing, PR China (2001).

He published 72 papers in international and national journals and more than 70 abstracts at international and national conferences. He is the author of one publication, two chapters in national scientific monographs and one chapter in international monograph, as well as two technical embodiments. He is a reviewer in a number of international and national journals,

mentor of four defended doctoral dissertations and more than 50 final theses. Since its founding, he has been involved in the work of the Center for Scientific Research of Students of the Faculty of Pharmacy in Belgrade (CNIRS) as the mentor of a number of research papers and activities.

Areas of scientific interest and work: pharmacological activity of medicinal herbs; activity-guided isolation of plant constituents and chemical characterization of isolated natural products; morphological and anatomical research of herbal drugs used in traditional medicine; examination of the chemical composition of essential oils.

He is a member of the Commission for the Marketing of Human Medicines within ALIMS, an external expert of ALIMS, and a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Serbia (Section for Medicinal Herbs). Also, a member of the editorial board of National Geography - Serbia.
